Melodies of Water
Water, in all its forms, embodies a fluidity that resonates deeply with the nature of human relationships. This series explores how water acts as a vector of connection, allowing individuals to unite and evolve together.
The Odalisque
In the series “Melodies of Water”, the variations around the character inspired by Ingres’ Odalisque offer two distinct interpretations through the same ovoid frame and an identical composition.
Sonia & Paul
The second variation on the character inspired by Ingres’ Odalisque, “Sonia & Paul,” introduces a more contemporary approach. The bronze here is bluish gray, with a matte finish that contrasts with the golden sheen of the first piece. The annealed glass frieze frames Sonia’s face, which itself is broken down into geometric shapes, creating a composition where the main lines of the frame continue and intertwine with the character’s features. This abstraction gives the work a modernist dynamic, while maintaining the same mischievous play in the female character’s gaze, creating a dialogue between tradition and modernity.
